I now believe that the effect that it had on my body was that it was crippling me. If there is one piece of advice that I would give anyone struggling with back pain, apart from looking at the physical side of the condition it's to have a good look at your personal life.
There comes a time in one’s life when it is time to take stock and about 5 years ago it was my time. I was so stressed even my immune system had crashed and burned. I sought the help of a therapist who pointed out the fact that I did not breathe! What she meant by that was that I did not know how to breathe properly to alleviate the stress that builds up in the body. After learning some invaluable breathing techniques I now know how to relax the body into almost a catatonic state of relaxation and do so when required.
This method worked for me and what I realised was that the back pain was definitely related to my stress levels. Have you ever gone away on a fabulous holiday and done things that you would not normally consider doing at home because you might put your back out? I rest my case!
